Andrey Spiridonov

Andrey Spiridonov, PhD in Economics, is the founder of Institutional Counterintelligence Analysis (ICA), an analytical discipline that examines counterintelligence not only as an operational activity but as an institutional process embedded within modern state systems. He is an academic researcher and author working between the United States and Europe.

After many years of service in state security institutions, where he held operational and analytical roles in the fields of intelligence and counterintelligence, he now focuses on research and writing in intelligence studies.

His work concentrates on the history of intelligence and counterintelligence, intelligence analysis, and the institutional development of modern intelligence systems. Spiridonov’s research examines the historical evolution of intelligence institutions, the professional formation of intelligence analysts, and the structural relationship between intelligence organizations, state governance, and security systems.

Institutional Counterintelligence Analysis (ICA), founded by Spiridonov, examines counterintelligence as an institutional analytical process embedded within modern state systems rather than solely as an operational activity. Through this framework, his research explores the institutional logic of counterintelligence, the transformation of intelligence institutions, and the role of analytical professions within contemporary security structures.

A significant part of his work also addresses the relationship between intelligence and migration governance. His studies analyze the historical development of migration control systems in the United States and Europe and the role of intelligence and counterintelligence in the management of mobility, border security, and global migration processes.

Spiridonov is the author of several books and research publications on intelligence history, intelligence analysis, and counterintelligence, including Intelligence and Counterintelligence: History, Modernity, and Facts and Counterintelligence Support of U.S. Immigration: Historical Development and Institutional Logic. His work is published on international academic platforms and research repositories.

Working across transatlantic research environments, Spiridonov continues to study the evolution of intelligence institutions, the history of counterintelligence, and the interaction between security systems, governance structures, and global migration processes.
