Ron Drost

Ron Drost is a distinguished Aerospace Researcher, Author, and Investigator who bridges the gap between conventional Aeronautical Science and the study of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP). Currently serving as a Field Investigator (Level FI-3) for the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), he applies decades of high-level analytical experience to the systematic documentation and evaluation of unexplained sightings.

Technical Foundation and Aerospace Career:

His expertise is rooted in a robust academic background from Penn State University, where he earned both a BS (’87) and an MS (’89) in Aerospace Engineering. Specializing in Astronautics and Advanced Spacecraft Propulsion, he developed a deep understanding of the physical laws governing flight and orbital mechanics—a foundation that remains vital to his current investigative work.

Following his academic tenure, he dedicated over 20 years to United Technologies Corporation (now Raytheon). Throughout his career, he ascended through various critical roles, moving from Research Engineer to a leadership position in Government Business Development for Advanced Propulsion Concepts. During this time, he held a Secret Security Clearance, working on sensitive projects in coordination with the Air Force and NASA.

Publications and Scientific Methodology:

A hallmark of his career is his contribution to the global body of aerospace knowledge. He has authored 26 peer-reviewed technical papers published through prestigious professional organizations, demonstrating a mastery of technical writing and a disciplined adherence to the Scientific Method. This academic rigor transitioned into the civilian sector with his featured article in the MUFON Journal, where he translates complex technical data into accessible, evidence-based reporting.

Personal Interests:

Beyond his professional life, he is a man of diverse disciplines. He is an accomplished Astrophotographer and musician (drums and piano), and maintains a competitive edge on the golf course with a 6 handicap. This unique blend of technical mastery, investigative curiosity, and creative precision makes him a leading voice in the scientific study of the unknown.
