Adam Mackay

Adam Mackay started his career underneath spacecraft, working as a mechanical engineer on scientific and commercial space projects. Twenty-eight years later, he is Head of AI and Principal Strategic Advisor at QA-Systems, where he works at the collision point between artificial intelligence and the industries where software failures have consequences beyond a bad quarterly report. He writes and speaks on AI safety, governance, and regulation, and his analysis reaches thousands of technology professionals and policymakers through The AI Monitor on Substack. He serves as co-chair of the TechNexus Programme for European technology collaboration and has contributed to the HiPEAC Vision 2026.

He lives in Devon, England, and is writing his next book about what happens when AI meets the industries where failure kills.
