Anna Kobell

Anna Kobell began writing in first grade, when she wrote a story about a vampire queen who was also a cow and lived in a volcano. Three years later, she began writing a children's book about fish, but quickly got gloriously off-topic. In no time, there were more humans than fish, as well as an army of Destroyians living on a floating island. Then there were no fish at all. Looking to the map of the United States on the wall for names and to her overactive imagination for the plot, Anna came up with a story that is a middle-grade adventure in every sense of the phrase.

In the years that followed, Anna hammered out the rest of the book, taking out the most outrageously nonsensical parts but taking care not to stray from the exciting novel she'd imagined as a nine-year-old. Finally, after writing and re-writing many times over, she completed her first full draft. Nearly twice as old as she'd been when she started writing it, Anna published her first novel, Virginia Watsmith and the Secret of Destroyia.

Currently, she is in the process of writing the sequel, though hopefully this one won't take half her life to write.
