Tracy Cook is a writer of historical fiction and Wings Over Valletta, set in rarely-depicted WW2 Malta, is her first published novel.
Ever since she was a child, Tracy has loved telling stories. After university, she joined the BBC producing and directing documentaries about peoples’ lives and later, as a freelance journalist, she wrote features for the national press.
But the dream to write fiction never left her. It wasn’t until her two children grew older and she moved into PR consultancy that she had more time. After graduating from the Faber Academy, she was longlisted for the Bridport Novel Prize in 2021.
She loves visiting historical sites and the first time she set foot in the Operations Room at Lascaris War Rooms in Valletta, a shiver ran through her. She knew she had to write about the unsung civilian women plotting aircraft battles, whose courageous work, constantly under bombardment, helped change the course of the war in the Mediterranean.
Now a happy empty nester, Tracy lives in Surrey with her husband. She loves walking by the river - and has solved many plot problems there. You can find out more about on her website, or on Instagram @Tracycookwriter.
