R. W. Hafer

R.W. Hafer is the former Distinguished Research Professor of Economics and Finance at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. In addition to his work in economics, Hafer has published numerous articles on the history of trout fishing in America. These works have appeared in The American Fly Fisher, the journal of the American Museum of Fly Fishing, and in Railroad History. He also is the author of From Northern California to the Ozarks of Missouri: How Rainbow Trout Came to the Show-Me State (2020), available from Amazon. His latest work, Fish Cars and Fish Culture: Railroads and Sport Fishing in America (2026) is published by the University of Nebraska Press. When not researching the many facets of trout fishing in American, he came be found in one of Missouri’s many trout streams.
