D.R. Pack

D.R. Pack, born and raised in the rural state of Oregon in the USA, is a retired educator with over 40 years of experience in classroom teaching, curriculum development, and educational technology across five countries. His career has encompassed roles as a science teacher, outdoor education coordinator, curriculum developer, Director of Studies, and educational technology consultant --- taking him from Oregon and South Australian classrooms to remote Pacific Island communities in Kiribati, Fiji, and the Solomon Islands.

Pack's teaching philosophy revolves around a learner-centered, inquiry-based education that honors each student's unique strengths and connects learning to real-world contexts. Whether coordinating outdoor education programs and teaching biology in South Australia, or developing tablet-based learning resources in the Pacific, he witnessed the same pattern: depth of engagement matters more than breadth of coverage.

His international work in under-resourced educational environments shaped a crucial conviction: the best learning doesn't happen when you try to replicate what schools do. It happens when you design around how individual learners actually think. Meaningful learning doesn't require expensive curriculum --- it requires thoughtful design, genuine curiosity, and respect for how children learn.
