JB Robillard writes historical fiction inspired by the intersection of history, myth, and faith. His debut novel, The Dane, the first volume in the Sword of Spirit series, blends authentic medieval history with spiritual and mythic storytelling.
A lifelong student of history, Robillard has followed an unconventional path that has included collegiate athletics, entrepreneurship, engineering, philanthropy, hearing healthcare, and business leadership. After spending much of his career building and managing successful companies, he turned his attention to writing the stories that had long occupied his imagination.
At the heart of The Dane is Bernard the Dane, a remarkable but often overlooked historical figure from tenth-century Normandy. A Norse jarl and trusted confidant of Duke William Longsword, Bernard remained steadfastly loyal after the duke's death, serving as regent of Normandy and mentor to the future Duke Richard the Fearless. Robillard was drawn to Bernard's story because it embodies enduring themes of loyalty, courage, faith, and leadership.
JB lives in Dunrobin Shores with his wife, Julia. They have three children and enjoy life along the Ottawa River, where he can often be found fishing somewhere in the Pontiac, exploring the river by boat, or sharing good wine and conversation with family and friends.
