Monteil Crawley

Monteil Crawley, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB, is a leading expert in the design of museums and cultural environments, shaping a unique design vision tailored to each institution. A senior principal at SmithGroup, he has spent his career with the firm working on places, spaces, and structures that are essential to the history and culture of the United States, including for Smithsonian Institution, Whitney Plantation Museum, Wisconsin Historical Society, Museum of Science and History (MOSH), U.S. National Archives and Records Administration, Architect of the Capitol, as well as cultural facilities on university campuses across the country.

Monteil believes that museums should be designed to enrich and serve their communities and become catalysts to uncovering hidden histories. A graduate of Hampton University, Crawley has worked with multiple universities through studio design critiques and mentorship programs, helping to shape the next generation of architects.
