Stephen Rheaume

Stephen Rheaume is a Michigan native and longtime Great Lakes researcher whose fiction is rooted in history, place, and the natural world. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Fish and Wildlife Management from Lake Superior State University and spent more than three decades as a federal biologist and geo-hydrologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Geological Survey. He has authored fifteen government publications focused on the ecological and hydrological dynamics of the Great Lakes basin.

A thirteenth-generation descendant of Louis Hébert, New France’s first European apothecary and farmer, Rheaume draws on both ancestral ties and scientific experience to craft stories that honor cultural resilience, natural history, and Indigenous perspectives. He lives in Williamston, Michigan, with his wife and family.
