Julia Chambers, President of Mimbleball, Inc., Escondido, CA, attended the University of Rochester, with a political science and art history degree. Next was a Florence Fellowship and a master’s degree in Italian Renaissance Art from Syracuse University in Florence, Italy.

This was followed by dual master’s degrees in Public Art Studies and Museum Studies from the University of Southern California. She was a curator and museum director for multiple institutions, and is also the mother of three sons who are now young adults. She has participated in exhibitions as an artist several times with artwork made of fabric and text.

In 2017, she threw a Pokémon party for her 10-year-old son Theo, and made Pokéballs for the kids to throw at each other. After the party, Theo designed a new ball made out of long, wild, soft grey faux fur, and a soft sheep-like fleece with wide blue button eyes to give it a wise, kind look. Ben the Mimbleball came to life when Theo trimmed the fur underneath.

Nine years later, there are 60,000+ Mimbleballs out in the world spreading love, emotional support, and good humor. Books about Mimbleballs help readers understand their superpowers and how to be kind.
