Stan began his career with a degree in Electrical Engineering, later enrolling in law school. After decades in small business development, management and financial consulting, he pursued a seminary degree, obtaining an MA in Theological Studies and a Ph.D. in Theology.
Moody is an ordained American Baptist pastor in Central Maine, serving in pulpit ministry for 25 years. He has served in the Maine State Legislature in both political parties and as a Chaplain at the maximum-security Maine State Prison (MSP).
Since leaving MSP, Moody has become an advocate for prison reform, writing for several daily and weekly newspapers. He has been an advisory board member of a number of national prisoner advocacy agencies. He is a prolific writer on the impact of the Christian Right on national politics and has spoken at several national forums.
Moody’s published books include, “Crisis in Evangelical Scholarship”, “McChurched”, “Following Jesus into Our Jails and Prisons” and, most recently, “Finding Our Way Home”.
