Sheila G. Cochran

Sheila G. Cochran is a South Carolina educator and author of Southern historical fiction inspired by the people, land, and history of the American South. Originally from Allendale County, her storytelling is rooted in family memories connected to the Dunbarton region of South Carolina and the generations who once called that land home.

Her debut novella, Whispers Beneath the Soil, blends Southern literary fiction with historical inspiration to explore themes of family heritage, land loss, memory, and the enduring bond between place and identity. Drawing on stories passed down through her family, Cochran weaves history and imagination into a narrative that reflects the cultural heritage of rural South Carolina.

Sheila holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Education and currently teaches business education in South Carolina. She lives in Walterboro, where she continues to write stories inspired by Southern history, family legacy, and the landscapes that shape them.
