Dr. Sika Koudou is a sociologist, researcher, and youth advocate whose storytelling is rooted in her vibrant upbringing in Northeast Indianapolis. Inspired by her mother’s love of the arts and a home filled with imagination, she writes from the joyful chaos of life with her daughters and a close-knit family of siblings, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and cousins. In Amiyah Loves Mud Baths, she blends nostalgia, playfulness, and emotional growth to honor Black girlhood, authentic expression, and the beauty of everyday joy. When she’s not writing or researching, she enjoys family time with her husband and daughters, often surrounded by splashy backyard adventures, dance parties, and shared laughter that fuels her creative work.
