L S Briar

L S Briar writes science fiction that explores the boundaries between human and other, individual and collective, autonomy and connection. Their work centres disabled and queer characters navigating transformation in hopeful futures where technology serves community rather than profit.

A former ecologist turned writer, Briar brings scientific rigor to their worldbuilding while maintaining focus on the emotional and philosophical questions that arise when we encounter the truly alien—whether that's non-human intelligence, our own changing bodies, or societies built on principles we've yet to imagine.

The Polyphony of Green is the debut novel, born from fascination with mycorrhizal networks, consciousness studies, and the question of what we're willing to sacrifice to bridge incompatible worlds. Briar can often be found listening to forests and thinking about what might be listening back.
