Marci Shepard, PhD, EdD, is an award-winning educator committed to closing equity gaps by helping leaders improve systems. Her work and research live at the intersection of continuous improvement, positive culture, and educational leadership. She has served as a teacher, school leader, central office leader, and superintendent in both Washington State and Ohio, and has held leadership roles in several state and national education organizations. Marci’s journey with improvement science began as a superintendent, first learning with a Superintendent Improvement Network, then implementing it in her district. She now researches how educational leaders use it to lead change. Dr. Shepard is currently a faculty member and coordinator in Educational Leadership at Ohio University, and she is the Director of the Ohio University Leadership Project, which provides professional development and support to school and district leaders across Ohio.
