Charlie's Momma

Charlie’s Momma is the author of the Charlie Chapter Book Series, a collection of heartfelt chapter books inspired by real life, imagination, and the quiet strength of children who experience the world differently.

The Charlie stories are loosely based on her son, Charlie, a nonverbal wheelchair user with Schaaf-Yang Syndrome, and are written to celebrate inclusion, empathy, and the many ways children communicate and connect. The books are created as a family collaboration, with illustrations by Charlie’s sister, adding a personal and authentic touch to each story. Some of the scenes in the books are authentic recreations with fictionalized elements. Each book has a touch of every day reality mixed with the magic of pretend.

Charlie’s Momma writes with the hope that every child can see themselves reflected in stories..and that every reader is reminded that some of the most powerful voices don’t need words to be heard. She hopes the special needs children, their siblings, their parents, their families, and their friends that read the books can relate and bridge the gap to understanding.
