Luke Pike

Luke Pike is a writer of Gangalidda–Garawa heritage whose work is grounded in the stories and cultural knowledge passed down through his family. Carrying a multicultural background, his understanding of identity has been shaped not by claims over land, but through the lived experiences, teachings, and memories shared by his Nana Dulcie, her mother, and his great-great-grandmother Hoosan.

Guided by these voices, Luke has spent years exploring the history of northern Queensland and the ways in which families preserved their culture, kinship, and dignity under the pressures of colonisation. His writing reflects a deep commitment to honouring what was entrusted to him, carrying forward family knowledge with integrity, and contributing to a broader understanding of the resilience and enduring strength of First Nations people whose histories continue to shape the region.

Alongside his cultural and historical writing, Luke also creates fantasy worlds inspired by his lifelong desire to tell stories. Despite facing challenges with dyslexia, he went on to become a Tier One project manager, developing strong skills in structure, planning, and complex thinking. He now brings those same skills into his creative work, building rich, immersive worlds in his fantasy novels and proving that storytelling can take many paths.
