David Gladstone

As a keen amateur sportsman, David Gladstone has tried his hand at many sports, although it's fair to say that his enthusiasm mostly exceeds his ability! That being said, he gains (almost) as much enjoyment from watching sport and spends many happy hours viewing a variety of sports either in person on the television.

One thing that David has excelled at, though, is running, cycling and swimming. He has completed no less than three marathons in three different countries, plus participated in several triathlons, whilst loving every minute of the challenges they presented.

Over thirty years ago, David was relaxing (for once) on a beach in the Mediterranean, (with his then girlfriend) when the idea of this book came to him. He realised that whilst reference books for sport were readily available, none had been written in the light-hearted way David thought he could capture. Principally, he wanted those less knowledgeable to be able to join in conversations with a degree of confidence whilst having fun along the way.

Not one to rush, David has finally completed his dream (some thirty years later) and above all, is thrilled to reclaim the head space it has been occupying for all those years! He also thinks it's a pretty cool thing for you, the reader, to hold and with any luck, learn something from.

Deliberately created as a 'pick up and pick down' coffee book guide for all, Demystifying Sport is a fantastic companion for everyone who's ever wanted to talk about sport - especially those wanting to pretend, with some degree of authority, that they what's going on!
