Lydia So

Dr Lydia So is a developmental paediatrician based in Australia, specialising in child development, disability, autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and emotional and behavioural difficulties. She completed her medical degree at the University of Auckland, holds a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine with distinction from James Cook University, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Paediatrics and Child Health.

Lydia leads a multidisciplinary child development assessment team and brings together clinical care, teaching, supervision, research, and quality improvement to improve access to developmental assessment and support for children and families. She has a particular interest in trauma-informed care, complex developmental assessments, and helping parents understand what sits underneath behaviour.

Through her writing and clinical work, Lydia helps parents understand behaviour through the lens of safety, connection, and the nervous system, offering practical and compassionate support for families.
