Mark Sutcliffe

Mark Sutcliffe is an outdoor writer and walking guide based in Clitheroe in Lancashire. Lancashire born and bred, Mark has explored the UK and Europe on foot and is passionate about walking as a route to wellbeing. Mark specialises in active travel and sustainable tourism and is a local councillor and environment and sustainability campaigner.

A former editor of Country Walking, Britain's biggest-selling walking magazine, Mark launched the #walk1000miles social media campaign, which engaged thousands of new readers. He also owned and edited Lakeland Walker, a popular bi-monthly magazine focusing on walking in the Lake District. He has a degree in Modern European History from the University of London, and a postgraduate diploma in Journalism.
