Barry O? Brien

Barry O Brien served over forty years in the Irish Police ( An Garda Siochana ) serving as Assistant Commissioner for Ireland's Northwest Region up to his retirement in 2022. Since his retirement he has operated as an Independent Tour Guide, sharing some of Dublin's rich history and culture to both visitors and citizens alike.

His love of history coupled with his extensive policing experience inspired his debut novel " The Notetakers ". Set in the tense months just before the 1916 Rising it tells the story of a secret unit within Dublin Castle whose job it is to monitor dissident groups within what was then part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.

He lives on Dublin's Northside with his wife and two of his three children.
