Tom Mowle

I am a retired Air Force officer who deployed to coalition headquarters in Baghdad from August to December 2004. I served in the policy and strategy divisions, where I helped shape senior officers’ understandings of the situation. Chaos in the Green Zone draws from my experiences as a participant and observer in Iraq. During the rest of my military career, I managed weapons system acquisition and taught political science at the Air Force Academy.

After retiring from the Air Force in 2008, I stepped away from national security. The Colorado governor appointed me El Paso County Public Trustee; my office handled all the foreclosures in the state’s most populous county. I retired from the countywide position in 2019 to devote my work time to my business, Rampart Professional Solutions. I catalyze faculty and graduate student scholarship as a writing and research coach, and I edit books, articles, and dissertations. I devote my leisure time to exploring the mountains that surround my home.
