Randy K Bennett

I began studying bonsai in 1971. I tried learning bonsai on my own with limited success, and in 1980, I found out about a local bonsai club and joined. That's when my learning and skill began to grow. I started Bennett's Bonsai Nursery in 1985, bought 5 acres and began field-growing stock. I also had several clients whose collections I managed.

Over the years I have written articles on bonsai, and was a contributing author for a book "Indoor Bonsai" published by the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. I still conduct bonsai study groups, write articles, and teach. Over the years, I have studied with such artists as: John Naka, Ben Oki, Warren Hill, Vaughn Banting, David DeGroot, Dennis Makashima, Jennifer Price, and Mauro Stemberger.

I travel the country conducting lectures, demonstrations and workshops. I have a number a award winning bonsai. The tree on the cover of this book won "Finest North American Native" at the 2025 9th US National Bonsai Exhibition in Rochester, New York.
