Sidak Sachdeva is a young writer with a deep curiosity about history, place, and the stories hidden in everyday lives.
He developed a love for Liverpool’s past while working on a school project that asked a simple question: Is Liverpool more famous for its docks or its music? That question led him to explore the city’s waterfront, old docklands, music streets, and the stories behind them: from Irish migration and post-war labour to the rise of Merseybeat.
Sidak is autistic and has often found it easier to understand the world through patterns, facts, and stories rather than conversation. Writing became a way for him to connect ideas, emotions, and history in a form that made sense to him. He believes historical fiction is one of the best ways to learn history, not as a list of dates, but through imagined lives shaped by real events.
From the Docks to the Stage began as a short piece for school homework and slowly grew into a full novel through research, revision, and long discussions with his father. Together, they focused on keeping the story historically accurate while accessible to young readers.
Sidak writes for teenagers and young adults who want to understand history by living inside it, and for readers who believe that ordinary people’s lives matter just as much as famous names.
He is currently developing a science fiction story that explores medical science and climate change, continuing his interest in how big ideas shape individual lives.
