Steven S. Lofgren

Steven S. Lofgren is a physician-educator with over two decades of experience bridging clinical practice and medical education. He earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and completed his residency training in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Following additional fellowship training in academic medicine, he dedicated his career to improving how medical concepts are taught to the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Throughout his career, Dr. Lofgren has held faculty appointments at several academic medical centers, where he developed curricula for undergraduate and graduate medical education programs. His passion for clear, accessible medical writing grew from years of observing students struggle with dense, overly technical resources. This frustration inspired him to create educational materials that distill complex pathophysiology and clinical reasoning into formats that promote true understanding rather than rote memorization.

Dr. Lofgren's textbooks are known for their logical organization, clinical relevance, and student-centered approach. When not writing, he enjoys mentoring early-career educators and advocating for evidence-based teaching methods in health sciences education. He currently resides in the Pacific Northwest with his family.
