Brenda Posey

Blessed (or cursed?) with an overactive imagination, Brenda Posey has been crafting science fiction stories for as long as she can remember. Growing up in Huntsville, Alabama, listening to the earth-rumbling sounds of rocket engines being tested, she dabbled with writing short stories before pursuing degrees in biology and computer science with an additional year of graduate study in entomology. After working as a researcher and programmer, she left the corporate world to raise two awesome kids with her also-awesome husband.

Reading her husband’s slightly dusty collection of classic science fiction novels reawakened her love of writing, and she was able to draw on her background in the sciences to create unique versions of reality. Her fascination with the contrast of high tech and the natural world inspired her short story “Canary,” which was judged one of the winners in the L. Ron Hubbard’s Writers of the Future Contest.

When not writing, Brenda can be found rehabbing a mid-century house, forging hot steel into almost-recognizable objects, tending a weedy garden for Gulf fritillary caterpillars, advocating for Oxford commas, and singing in choir.
