About Jodie and Fern

Jodie and Fern Moar are the mother-and-daughter team behind the Fern the Feelings Fox series. Together, they create warm, gentle stories that help children explore feelings, friendships, courage, new experiences and the many big emotions that can come with growing up.

Jodie is a Child Development & Behaviour Consultant, paediatric nurse and counsellor who supports families and educators to better understand what may be happening underneath a child’s behaviour. Through her work with From the Start, she shares practical, relationship-focused guidance grounded in child development, emotional wellbeing and connection.

Fern brings imagination, creativity and a child’s perspective to the stories, helping shape characters and adventures that feel relatable, playful and reassuring. Together, Jodie and Fern combine professional knowledge with their shared love of storytelling to create books that help children feel understood, supported and a little more confident as they navigate the world.
