Héctor Haddock Cintrón is a passionate renal health advocate, digital educator, and dedicated author committed to transforming the lives of kidney patients through knowledge and mindful eating. His journey into renal nutrition began after surviving a cerebral aneurysm in 2015, a life‑altering event that led him to face severe kidney impairment. From that experience emerged a mission: to ensure that no patient has to live in fear, confusion, or misinformation as he once did.
With a unique blend of rigor, sensitivity, and culinary creativity, Héctor has spent years researching, adapting, and developing recipes that meet the nutritional needs of those living with kidney disease—without sacrificing flavor or cultural identity. His work harmonizes Puerto Rican culinary traditions with modern renal nutrition principles, proving that eating well and eating deliciously can go hand in hand.
Through his digital presence, educational efforts, and now his book Because We Are What We Eat, Héctor offers practical tools, hope, and guidance to patients, families, and caregivers. His mission is clear: to empower the renal community with accessible information, safe recipes, and a human-centered perspective that reminds us that food nourishes not only the body, but also dignity and quality of life.
Héctor lives in Saint Cloud, Florida, with his husband and life partner of more than 38 years, Milton Mangual Cordero, who has been a pillar of strength throughout his healing journey and his mission of service.
