Anna Dowling

Anna Dowling is an author, editor, and founder of Pendergast Books, an independent imprint specialising in folklore, witchcraft, occult history, and beautifully peculiar books.

Born in Cheshire and now based in Cornwall, she has spent much of her life collecting stories from the edges of things: old customs, forgotten beliefs, strange creatures, haunted places, and the curious ways people make sense of the unknown.

Her work ranges from practical witchcraft and folklore to fiction steeped in magic and transformation. Whether writing her own books or restoring neglected historical texts, she is drawn to material that feels timeless, unsettling, and rich with mystery.

She lives by the sea, drinks far too much coffee, and remains convinced that the world is considerably stranger than it first appears.
