Anna Dowling is a musician, author, and the founder of Pendergast Books, an independent imprint dedicated to folklore, witchcraft, occult history, and beautifully unsettling stories.
Born in Cheshire in 1984, she grew up steeped in old legends, dark waters, and half-forgotten traditions. She now lives in South Cornwall, where rugged coastlines, haunted buildings, and ancient paths continue to shape her work.
Anna’s writing is rooted in folklore and the uncanny, with a particular love for cryptids, witchcraft, werewolves, and the strange psychology of belief. Whether writing fiction or curating historical texts, she is drawn to stories that feel old, whispered, and slightly dangerous.
She runs on strong coffee, soft marshmallows, and a lifelong fascination with the shadows between things.
