James Graywick

James Graywick is a true crime author specializing in forgotten cases and regional criminal history. Born in Melbourne to a British father and Australian mother, he spent his early years between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the American Midwest, developing a lasting interest in how geography, isolation, and community shape crime.

After completing degrees in criminology and history, Graywick worked as a researcher for documentary production companies, where he encountered numerous overlooked cases that had faded from public memory. These experiences shaped his approach to writing: evidence-led, place-focused, and grounded in historical context.

His work is known for meticulous archival research and a respectful treatment of victims’ stories. Drawing on court records, contemporary newspapers, and historical documents, Graywick presents factual accounts that examine not only how crimes occurred, but why they were possible in particular places and periods.

He currently divides his time between Australia and the United Kingdom, continuing to document crimes from the margins of criminal history.
