Toofun West

Toofun West is a writer and storyteller, and a father of three boys. His path to writing was forged through displacement, survival, and the absence of formal education. As a child living as a refugee, school was often inaccessible. Instead, stories and films became his teachers — shaping his values, sharpening his vision, and offering a blueprint for an honest and purposeful life.

He was told early on that he was not “made for it.” Writing proved otherwise. Storytelling became both refuge and resistance, a way to imagine possibility where none was offered.

Together with his wife and creative partner, Anna West, his work has achieved international recognition, including both being listed on the Oscars website as quarter-finalists in the Academy Nicholl Fellowship, one of the most prestigious screenwriting programs in the world. Now a father of three, Toofun continues to write with the belief that stories can shape lives, challenge limits, and open paths forward.
