John Climpson is a leadership specialist, researcher, and former British Army Captain with experience leading and developing performance in high-pressure environments across military operations, elite sport, and complex organisations.
Alongside his operational military leadership, John served as an award-winning Head Coach of the British Army Athletics Team, where he led national-level performance programmes and coached athletes competing at the highest levels of military and international competition. This work shaped his practical understanding of leadership, pressure, accountability, and sustained performance over time.
John has since worked as a leadership consultant and executive coach with senior leaders, founders, boards, and leadership teams across sectors including healthcare, transport, retail, professional services, and the public sector. He has delivered over 3,000 hours of executive coaching and leadership development, and has contributed to postgraduate education, lecturing and assessing on MBA and Master’s-level leadership programmes.
He is the creator of the research-informed CONSCIOUS Leadership Competence System, developed through his research and professional practice. His work focuses on helping leaders build the internal capacity required to think clearly, relate effectively, and lead consciously as responsibility and complexity increase.
