Hi, you know someone is a pilot within minutes of meeting them because they will tell you and if you want to keep a pilot entertained for hours just give them a mirror. Ok, that’s enough pilot bashing… Yes I am one of them but one thing pilots have done is been to all sorts of places which means they have been exposed to a huge variety of experiences - some scary, some ridiculous but all worth sharing. After every flight I knew there was so much that others could learn from so it didn’t sit well with me just to take them to my grave. In addition, my father, who sadly is no longer with us, suggested that I share every anecdote - the more outrageous the better. Growing up in Northern Ireland, raising a family, 18 years in the RAF and 17 years in the airlines means plenty to talk about. My first book, “Throwing Fruit at Drug Dealers”, is a warts-and-all biography. In hindsight, I probably should have left a few chapters out but it is available for you unedited exactly as it all happened. My latest book, “A T*sser’s Guide to Leadership”, is something completely different. It is also available as an audio book having been narrated by the legendary Peter Dickson of X Factor fame. I will be eternally grateful to Peter for agreeing to read it as his unique and commanding voice have made the book really come alive. If either book makes you smile then I will be happy.
