Edward Cohen

I am Professor in the School of Social Work at San Jose State University, employed at SJSU since 2007. My research trajectory has progressed starting with children, youth and family mental health, child welfare, international social work, and most recently family-based programs for the prevention of child maltreatment. I have been trained in, and use regularly, quantitative and qualitative methods. I teach graduate social work research methods and analysis, and each year since my hire I have involved students in research as research assistants. SJSU is a minority- and Hispanic-serving institution, and therefore my research tends to conform to the university and department priorities of being community-engaged and community-based. My expertise has been in working with governmental and non-profit agencies in program evaluation.
