James Hickson began telling stories to his three children, Harlowe, Jack, and Sofia, at bedtime. Over time, those stories grew into something bigger. Inspired by family adventures, life in Luxembourg, and his children’s love of mystery and discovery, he decided to write a series that blended imagination with the world around them.
That idea became The Curio Club, a middle-grade mystery series designed to be fictional while weaving in real history as a way to teach, inspire curiosity, and spark a love of learning.
Raised in London, James has lived in Saudi Arabia, Hungary, New York, China, and Dubai before settling in Luxembourg, a place whose landscapes and history now play a central role in his storytelling.
