Richard West is a British musician, songwriter and author. Growing up in the ‘80s, he fell in love with the UK singles chart, tuning in each week to immerse himself in the sounds of the era. Those broadcasts sparked a lifelong fascination with popular music and a dream of one day finding his own place among the chart entries.
In later years he fulfilled that ambition as a member of the progressive metal bands Threshold and Oblivion Protocol, securing chart recognition across Europe, particularly in Germany, Switzerland and the UK’s specialist rankings. Alongside his musical career, he has published the memoir Maybe a Writer: My Life in Threshold that explores his journey from chart-obsessed teenager to established recording artist.
Today he lives in Surrey with his wife Farrah, where his passion for music remains undimmed. Away from the stage and studio, he can most often be found revisiting the sounds of the ‘80s – the era that most inspired him and continues to shape his love of music.
