Indigo Leo Max

As a Michigan native, Indigo came to know himself through the quiet of nature and the depths of his own imagination. As a child, weekends often meant sitting around a camp fire with family, gazing up at the stars and wondering what might be beyond. Though insatiably curious, he never considered himself particularly creative.

Not imagining a future as an author, Indigo moved to North Texas in 2004 and pursued a degree in engineering. He'd earned his degree in electrical engineering by 2011 and decided to remain in Texas to start his career. Some years later he'd purchased his first home and by the next year he shared it with a few beloved horses.

Drawn to the rich and imaginative worlds of science fiction and fantasy, Indigo remained an avid reader. By the spring of 2024, having read nearly every anthro-related work available to him, tragedy struck. A violent storm claimed one of the horses, a flea-bitten Arabian named Indigo.

In honor of that loss, Indigo Leo Max took his late horse's name and began a new journey. After a year and a half, he'd completed his first novel, The Pride's Claw.

As a lifelong learner, Indigo studies emerging technologies including artificial intelligence. Always curious about the potential of new tools like LLMs, he embraces AI as a tool but never a substitute for imagination. Readers might notice a liberal scattering of em dashes across his pages and wonder if AI wrote them. Rest assured, every character, every idea, every emotion and every em dash started by his hand. Though he initially used AI to edit The Pride's Claw, his intention has always been to grow his skillset beyond the need for AI editing assistance.
