Dr. M. Maruf Hossain

Named among the Global Top 100 Innovators in Data and Analytics in 2024, Dr M. Maruf Hossain is a pioneering leader in AI and Data Science in Australia. He is renowned for delivering tangible business value across diverse organisations, including startups, large enterprises, consulting firms, and government agencies.

With a robust quantitative foundation, Dr Hossain holds a PhD in AI from the University of Melbourne, a Master’s degree in Software Engineering, and an Honours degree in Mathematics.

Currently, as Executive Manager, Responsible AI at Australia’s first and one of the big four banks, Westpac, Dr Hossain brings extensive expertise. He previously served as Chief AI Strategist at 42 Consulting.AI, Chief Data and Analytics Officer at Momentium Technologies in Australia, and Vice President of Data Science and AI at ANZ Banking Group, one of Australia’s largest banks. He also held key roles at Telstra, IBM Australia, Infosys Consulting, and the Australian Government. He has co-authored numerous research papers on data mining and machine learning, as well as white papers for various industries.

Dr Hossain has established Centres of Excellence for Data, AI, and Automation for multiple organisations, further solidifying his reputation as a thought leader.
