Avery Toomes writes the stories others are afraid to tell. This Texas-based poet and playwright transforms personal experience into powerful art that amplifies women’s voices. Her play Your Power sold out its New York City debut and later ran in Philadelphia, confronting violence against women through an unflinching lens. The production dismantled silence and sparked critical discourse around the realities of women’s lives. A Pratt Institute graduate, Toomes works across writing, painting, and multimedia to create art that cuts deep and heals clean. She serves as Editorial Assistant at Sulit Press and as Assistant Editor at TRIBEZA magazine while also writing artist profiles for Oro Art. Through her Substack essays, she shares the kind of raw honesty that helps women feel less alone. Her work has appeared in Khrome Magazine, The Prattler, and Austin Woman Magazine. As a member of Zonta Club of Austin, she believes storytelling creates pathways for others to follow.
