Tom’s journey began as a dedicated middle school teacher and coach, where his passion for empowering studentsrecognition as Educator of the Year in Ohio. He went on to serve as a middle school principal, district leader, and eventually, the superintendent of Princeton City Schools, where he became known for his innovative leadership and unwavering commitment to equity and excellence.

His visionary leadership earned him the Innovative Superintendent Award, and he’s been celebrated far beyond his district—recognized by both Hamilton County and the City of Sharonville with official proclamations of “Tom Burton Day.”

Tom's roots run deep, and so does his impact. He’s been inducted into the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame of Cleveland Heights, where it all began—and most recently, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Ohio Alliance of Black School Educators, a powerful testament to his enduring legacy and influence.

Now, as the CEO of WeEmpower LLC, Tom leads with a mission to inspire courageous leadership, elevate others, and create systems where all learners—and leaders—can thrive.
