Dana is a determined and faith-driven individual with a lifelong passion for running and physical fitness. To celebrate his 50th birthday, he set a bold personal goal—to run 50 miles. Just weeks after achieving this milestone, his life was unexpectedly shaken by a series of health challenges, including a debilitating back condition that required major surgery.
Amid these trials, Dana received a heartbreaking call: his lifelong best friend, Beetle, had been hospitalized with a serious illness. Beetle was soon diagnosed with stage four throat and stomach cancer and given only days to live. Dana found himself in a new kind of race—a race to stand beside his best friend during his final days and help him finish life’s journey with dignity, faith, love, and community.
Since 2010, Dana has embraced journaling as a spiritual practice, alongside his commitment to prayer and Bible study. These disciplines provided the strength and clarity he needed to navigate this season of loss and transformation. After decades in the Information Technology field, Dana discovered a new calling: writing. With encouragement from his sister Anita and inspiration from Mary Ellen, a close family friend, he penned his first book, The Beetle Experience, a tribute to friendship, faith, and finishing well.
