Shelly McLean has always loved two things—travel and storytelling. After exploring more than 30 countries with her husband Joric, she dreamed up a zebra named Zander, inspired by her adventurous son. Just like him, Zander is full of curiosity, courage, a big smile, and an even bigger heart for discovering adventure, new places, and friends around the world.

When she’s not writing about Zander’s adventures, Shelly can be found baking bagels in Arizona, planning her next trip, or spending time with her family.

Through Zander the Zebra, Shelly hopes to inspire kids to be curious, kind, and brave explorers—because the world is full of amazing things waiting to be discovered.
