Born and raised in a small rural town in Western New York, I have always been blessed with strong familial bonds. And in my young, adventuresome days, while traveling the world in search of greener pastures, it was those ties that would bring me back 'home'. This is where I would replant my roots and raise my three beautiful children. Each now grown, of all three I'm so very proud. And just when I thought that life couldn't get any better, here I am with five amazing grands. My heart is full. Oh! And let's not forget my little pup, Sadie. She is nothing shy of a princess in the making.

I grew up a middle child of five, clustered between two boys. I think my sisters were too cool at the time to have little old me tag along, so it wasn’t surprising that I was a tomboy early on. My middle-class family was headed by a hard-working father and mostly stay-at-home mom. We always had a hot home-cooked meal on the table and the house was always immaculate. It was a typical traditional family growing up in the 60’s, 70’s, and early 80’s. Our younger days were spent outdoors, even in harsh weather. We played until the streetlights came on, we drank water from dirty outdoor hoses, and when we fell down, we got back up and continued to play some more. Summers were filled with baseball games and swimming pools while winters were occupied by ice skating and neighborhood snowball fights. There were no cell phones to be heard of. No video games. No computers. And certainly, no social media. Those were the best of times and without the influence of technology, we were forced to use our own imaginations.

So, what did I do with mine? Don’t even get me started (as I chuckle). I will say, though, that mine was very vivid. Anyone who can set the album cover of the King family up on a makeshift stage with curtains and pretend to be in the first row of a concert for the duration of the entire album, deserves an imagination award. That was me! If I read a story, I saw it in color. If I told of an adventure, I relived it all over again. And if I wrote, I wanted nothing less than for the reader to be right there next to me, just as consumed in the words as I was. It would seem natural then, that my love of both writing and storytelling would one day come together ... as I hope it has with my first book, Feather in the Wind.
