André Lehmann

Hi! My name is André - many people know me from YouTube as HeimatHopper. On my channel, I talk openly and honestly about emigration. I not only share positive insights from my own experiences, but also mistakes and moments of realization that I have gathered along the way and from many good conversations with experienced emigrants.

I am originally from Germany, lived in the USA for five years, and have been living in Austria since 2017. These stages have made my personal comfort zone quite elastic - and shown me how many versions of ‘home’ there actually are. Each new environment has helped me understand how every country and system has its advantages and disadvantages, but that not all advantages and disadvantages carry the same weight for each individual. So there is such a thing as a sweet spot- a country that offers your personal optimum set of conditions to enable you to enjoy life to the fullest.

What qualifies me professionally? Apart from my passion for emigration and my YouTube channel, I have been working for an international group of companies for over 20 years. For several years now, I have been primarily responsible for organizing the worldwide deployment of specialists and executives - both temporary and permanent. So I know what it means to cross borders, not only privately but also professionally. And how complex, beautiful, and sometimes absurd the whole thing can be.
