Tovi Mickel is an independent research scholar, Hebrew Bible textual critic, author, publisher, and host of Roots Reclaimed. He is the author of Tanakh, New Testament, Manuscripts & The Israelites: A Hebraic & Diasporic Critique of Canon Formation and Textual Theology, a major monograph examining canon formation, textual transmission, Hebrew grammar, manuscript evidence, Afro-diasporic theology, and the recovery of suppressed voices within biblical interpretation.
Mickel’s work has been recognized by the 2025 Society of Biblical Literature Bernadette J. Brooten Award Committee and he is a 2026 Society of Biblical Literature International Meeting accepted presenter in the Biblical Hebrew Language & Linguistics Section. His research engages Biblical Hebrew linguistics, manuscript traditions, redactional stratification, canon architecture, Afro-diasporic textual memory, and comparative manuscript study.
As founder of Roots Reclaimed Institute, Mickel develops method-driven teaching for readers, researchers, faith leaders, and communities seeking disciplined engagement with Scripture and history. His current work includes the Paleo-Diasporic Comparative Method™ (PDCM™), a Hebrew Bible / Tanakh-centered framework for testing textual, translation, manuscript, Hebrew/Aramaic, scribal-mechanism, and interpretive claims; and the Afro-Asiatic Diaspora Continuity Matrix™ (ADCM™), a controlled framework for testing African, Afro-Asiatic, Jewish, Israelite, and Afro-diasporic continuity claims through archives, route logic, chronology, ritual function, oral memory, linguistic controls, DNA boundaries, and falsification.
Mickel is also co-founder of Mickle Publishers and editor-translator of the developing Afro-Asiatic Tanakh™ — Mickel Edition. His scholarship combines textual criticism, Semitic linguistics, Afro-diasporic memory studies, postcolonial theology, and public-facing education.
His work is written for those who refuse shallow doctrine, careless internet claims, and inherited assumptions that cannot withstand textual scrutiny.
