Jeff Hicks

Jeff Hicks is an American Airlines captain, Air Force veteran, and president and founder of Aerospace Safety Associates. He brings more than three decades of experience in military, federal, and commercial aviation. His firm has completed more than 120 aviation safety assessments and supports NASA Commercial Aviation Services. He led development of NASA-STD-7919.1 and NASA’s UAS operations standard.

His three standalone professional books address distinct responsibilities: Risk Is the Work examines how organizations support operational risk decisions. What the Audit Misses examines oversight of capability beyond documented compliance. Risk River introduces FLOW: Frame, Locate, Observe, Work, for decisions from individual missions to the organizations supporting them.

An outdoorsman, Hicks also writes about friendship, survival, faith, loyalty, and the wild places that shape us in his Alaska books: Soldier, Margin on the Bering, and One Hunt a Year.
