I have spent my career helping others learn, develop, and succeed - first as a primary school teacher and later as a headteacher. After many years working in schools, a family career break led me into university teaching, where I now work as a Senior Tutor, leading an Applied Education Studies degree designed specifically for teaching assistants and support staff.
I am passionate about helping teaching assistants strengthen their expertise and gain the recognition they deserve. Working with such highly motivated and dedicated professionals inspired me to write my first book, Unlocking Success: A Guide for Teaching Assistants, alongside my colleague Carol Thompson. Together, we share practical, evidence-informed ideas to help TAs make an even greater difference in the classroom.
When I’m not teaching, researching, or writing, I love being outdoors either taking my lively cocker spaniel on long walks or riding my horse. Both of which are the perfect antidote to work.
