Dr. Samantha Bise is an author, poet, podcaster, and professor. Her doctorate is in literacy, culture, and language education from Indiana University, and above all, Samantha loves to explore the complexities of language. Samantha studies the culture of religious language. Her research and writing focuses specifically on the intersections of Christian language and power structures, uncovering the hidden stories of empire, patriarchy, and capitalism shaping the language used in churches. She is the co-host of the Church Chatter Podcast--a podcast exploring the surprising linguistic, cultural, and theological contexts behind different religious words and phrases. Samantha lives in Pennsylvania with her two daughters, husband, and Cocker Spaniel.
