Ben Appel is the author of “Cis White Gay: The Making of a Gender Heretic,” a memoir about his childhood in a Christian covenant community and his adult experiences in LGBT activism and the Ivy League. He has written for The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, New York Post, Newsweek, The Free Press, Quillette, UnHerd, Washington Examiner, Daily Mail, and Queer Majority. He lives with his husband in Manhattan.
